If you’ve been wanting to try horse camping this will be an excellent opportunity to dip your toe in the water.

Moonlight & Mustangs will be kicking off the 2025 horse camping season at Turkey Hill Equestrian Campground Memorial Weekend.

This campground is on Lake Camanche in Valley Springs. It’s just 43 miles from Sacramento, an easy haul to the lakeside campground equipped with pipe corrals, potable water, portable-potties, and lots of great tails. Most sites are pull through if you’re backup challenged .

If weather is uncooperative you can cancel your booking for a refund 72 hours before your stay.

This is a byoe (bring your own everything) trip meaning you’re responsible for being yourself, horses, all necessities. But you have some old campout hags to ask questions of and learn the ropes of horse camping with. Experienced campers are also welcome. This is a group meet up not a sponsored event so you are responsible for you, your horse, your pets, your rig and your guest, attend at your own risk.
